DAY-TO-DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 – September 8: Welcome to Split!
Split is a vibrant coastal city where ancient history meets lively Mediterranean charm. At its heart lies Diocletian’s Palace, a 4th-century Roman masterpiece that now forms the bustling old town, filled with cafés, boutiques, and homes tucked within its marble walls—a living museum of history. Stroll the Riva promenade, where locals and visitors alike sip coffee, watch ferries drift to nearby islands, and soak in stunning sea views. Explore the labyrinth of stone alleys, hidden courtyards, and centuries-old architecture, or escape to Marjan Hill for panoramic vistas over the city and Adriatic waters. Split offers the perfect balance of beach relaxation, mountain hikes, and cultural discovery, with a calendar full of art, music, and festivals.
Culinary Highlights:
Dalmatia’s cuisine is rooted in local, sustainable ingredients. Indulge in traditional dishes such as:
Peka – slow-cooked meat and vegetables under an iron bell
Brudet – savory fish stew from the Adriatic
Pašticada – rich beef stew marinated in wine and spices
Soparnik – simple, traditional Swiss chard pie
Supporting local culinary traditions allows you to experience the authentic flavors of Dalmatia while honoring the land and sea.
Overnight: Marmont Heritage Hotel or similar
DAY 2 — September 9: Food, History, & Private Chef’s Table
Begin your day in the Green Market, enjoying a traditional inland brunch of prosciutto, pancetta, cheese, and freshly baked “peka” bread. Then explore the heart of Diocletian’s Palace, a 1,700-year-old Roman residence. Wander its labyrinthine alleyways, admire the Peristyle square and the Cathedral of St. Domnius, and climb the bell tower (if you’re up for it) for panoramic views over red-tiled roofs and the sparkling Adriatic. Experience a lunch in a traditional konoba, (aka a rustic family-owned tavern) featuring handmade macaroni, olive oil pies, local wines, and sweet treats including gelato. Enjoy the balance of the afternoon to yourself. Reconvene with the group in the evening.
On your own:
Riva Promenade: Enjoy coffee, sunsets, and people-watching along Split’s vibrant waterfront.
Marjan Hill: Hike or stroll through this green oasis for breathtaking city and sea views.
Evening – Private Chef’s Table Experience:
Step into an intimate, local kitchen where dinner is prepared before your eyes. Savor the aromas of garlic, fresh herbs, and seafood as handmade pasta is rolled and sauces simmer slowly. Courses unfold naturally with conversation, paired with regional wines, and shared stories of family recipes and Croatian culinary traditions. This is not a restaurant dinner — it’s a soulful, authentic, and unforgettable experience, crafted with heart by chefs we personally trust. Meal — (B, L, D)

Walk along wooden pathways over rushing water, discover hidden viewpoints, ancient mills, and monastic islands, and encounter diverse wildlife including countless birds and elusive otters. Marvel at Skradinski Buk, the park’s iconic waterfall, and learn about the unique travertine barriers formed by mineral-rich waters. Afterward, transfer to Trogir, a medieval island town with UNESCO-protected streets, Romanesque and Renaissance architecture, and a magnificent cathedral. Stroll its maze-like alleys, enjoy the lively seaside promenade with cafés and yachts, and take free time for lunch before returning to Split. Meal – (B)

Optional stops include the Monk Seal Cave, Stončica Beach, Budikovac Green Lagoon, or the charming towns of Vis and Komiža. Later, cruise to the Pakleni Islands, an emerald archipelago off Hvar’s coast. Continue to Stari Grad, a 2,400-year-old UNESCO town, for a coffee break, before driving along the scenic “lavender roads” to Napoleon Fortress, offering breathtaking panoramic views. For lunch, enjoy an authentic konoba experience in the peaceful, abandoned medieval village of Milna, savoring local dishes while learning the village’s history.
